Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture corrosion resistant dial plate for watch which is hardly stained, by forming resist coating on the suitable parts of a base plate at least upper surface of which is made of metal, and by forming metallic plated layer on the parts having no resist coating.
CONSTITUTION: Resist coating is formed partially on the base plate for a dial plate, then the part having no resist coating is electroplated to form metallic layer, the resist coating being left unpeeled. For example, radiant streaks of rising-sun-ray type etc. are made on a brass plate 1 with a metallic brush etc., then plated layer 2 of gold or silver is formed on the brass plate. In addition, resist coating 3 is formed on the plated layer 2. Subsequently the brass is energized in order to be plated with letters 4 etc. of gold or nickel on the part having no resist coating 3, and the resist coating is left unpeeled. The resist coating 3 is made of synthetic rubber, PVA etc. The dial plate is energized by holding it between electrodes 5, 6.
