Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a complete wax coating by placing a laminated fastened battery element and wax bath in a same evacuated atmosphere, and then soaking the battery in the bath while simultaneously releasing the evacuation. CONSTITUTION:A laminated fastened battery element and wax bath is placed in a same evacuated atmosphere, for example of 100-30mm.Hg. For example, the wax bath is a molten mixture of 15pts.wt. of vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer having a low molecular weight, a softening point of 60-90 deg.c, and low viscosity and containing about 30% of vinyl acetate and 85pts.wt. of micro crystalline wax. The laminated battery element is soaked in the bath heated at 125+ or -2 deg.C, and the atmosphere is released from evacuation or pressurized to cause the wax penetrate into small spaces completely.
