Abstract

PURPOSE: To make an accurate pattern decision by taking a spot scan on a coagulation pattern formed on the bottom surface of a reaction container by a spot light source which provides a linear scan, and then by comparing a photodetection output to a reference value.
CONSTITUTION: Light from lamp 1 is caused to strike pinhole plate 2 that is movable as shown by arrow A, the spot image of pinhole 2A is image-formed on conic bottom surface 6A of reaction container 6 through lens 5 of deep depth of focus, and moving pinhole plate 2 provides a spot scan on the coagulation pattern on bottom surface 6A. A light spot penetrating bottom surface 6A at the lowest point forms a coagulation pattern image on photodetector 8 via image-forming lens 7 and the output of detector 8 varies according to the scan. For the purpose, this output is supplied to differential amplifier 11 applied with a reference voltage whose value is based upon an intermediate sedimentary state through differentiating circuit 10 and its output is input to comparator 13 to obtain the output of a comparison to the reference voltage, so that patterns of integration, intermediate sedimentaion, even sedimentaion, etc., can be decided accurately.
