Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a halogen-containing polymer rubber from scorching during milling, when a crepe is left alone, or in a processing process before vulcanization, by adding an N-substituted benzothiazole-2-sulfonamide compound to a halogen- containing polymer rubber.
CONSTITUTION: Scorch is prevented by adding an N-substituted benzothiazole-2- sulfonamide compound (e.g. N-cyclohexylthio-N-cyclohexylbenzothiazole-2-sulfonamide, etc.) of formula I, where R is benzothiazolyl or substituted benzothiazolyl of formula II (where X is halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, acetoamido or nitro); R1 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, benzyl, phenyl, substituted aryl of formula III (where Y is halogen, lower alkyl or nitro), or R"-S- (where R" is alkyl, cycloalkyl, benzyl, trichloromethyl or phenyl, etc.) to a halogen-containing polymer rubber (e.g. chloroprene rubber, etc.).
