Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the vibration damping effect by a fluid pressure pad provided in a noncontact condition with respect to a running strip surface by disposing the pad at points which divide a span of the strip between its fixed points into a specified number. CONSTITUTION:In a molten zinc plating line, the strip 3 passes by a sink roll 4 dipped in a plating bath 1 and reaches a top roll 5. Between the rolls 4 and 5, the fluid pressure pad 7 is provided to prevent the vibration of the strip 3 being subjected to a zinc attachment control by a gas wiping nozzle 6. In this case, the strip 3 is apt to vibrate and in order to damp this vibration of the strip 3, a fluid pressure pad is usually arranged. According to the present invention, at least one pair of fluid pressure pads 7 are disposed at such points as divide the span of the strip 3 between the both rolls 4 and 5 which are fixed points into the number of 1/(n+1) (n is an integer from 1 to 6 or 0), or at several points apart from the both fixed points by more than 1m. The static pressure between the fluid pressure pad and the strip is sustained in 30-50mm. water column.
