Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the press formability and corrosion resistance of an Ni-Cr austenitic stainless steel by regulating the components of the steel so as to adjust the value of Md30 to a specified value.
CONSTITUTION: The composition of an austenitic stainless steel is composed of ≤0.03% C, ≤0.5% Si, 2.2W3.0% Mn, ≤0.005% S, 14W18% Cr, 6W9% Ni, ≤0.03% N, 0.15W0.50% Mo, 1W3% Cu and the balance Fe, and by regulating the components so as to adjust the value of Md30 as an index showing the stability of austenite to -10W60, the press formability and corrosion resistance of the steel are enhanced furthermore. Md30=497-462(C+N)-9.2Si-8.1Mn-13.7Cr-20 (Ni+Cu)-18.5Mo.
