Abstract

PURPOSE: Glass beads are placed in a heat-resistant female mold and softened by heating to form glass spacers depending on female molds, thus readily making glass spacers with less fluctuation in demensional accuracy and with stabilized qualities.
CONSTITUTION: Glass beads 2 are placed in a heat-resistant female mold 1 and softened by heating. At the same time, they are pressed with a heat-resistant male mold 3, thus producing glass spacers for plate type displays. The femal mold 1 has a linear groove of rectangular shape with prescribed width and depth 1a. The groove 1a is flat at the bottom, tapered down on the side walls and rounded at each corner. The male mold 3 has a projection part 3a of rectangular shape with prescribed width and height. It is flat at the top surface of the projection and rounded at the outside edge in each corner.
