Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a sufficient damping-force even for a large relative speed by determining the damping-force characteristic in case of a small relative speed of a piston according to the variable orifice whose opening area becomes small when the relative speed of the piston becomes large. CONSTITUTION:When a piston 2 lowers, an oil chamber B is compressed, while an oil chamber A is expanded, a retainer 16 and a disc valve 17 are displaced integrally upward against a spring 22, due to the pressure difference between A and B, and the valve 17 is separated from a valve seat 2a. Therefore, the oil in the oil chamber B flows into the oil chamber A without resistance, passing through an oil port 18 having a large opening area, and between a disc valve 17 and the valve seat 2a. When the piston 2 goes up for a pressure cylinder, the oil chamber A is compressed, and the oil chamber B is expanded, so that retainer 16 and the valve 17 make sliding motion with each other in response to the magnitude of the relative speed between the cylinder 1 and the piston 2, and thus a damping-force can be obtained.
