Abstract
PURPOSE: To ensure the quick and high-precision automatic gain control by applying the fixed gain control voltage to position detection circuit at the record information region and then applying the signal amplitude fluctuation component detected from the output of the servo signal to the fixed gain control voltage at the servo region.
CONSTITUTION: The signal of magnetic head 2 is amplified 3 to be sent to position detection circuit 4 and the record information circuit. The output of circuit 4 is supplied to servo signal peak detection circuit 5, and detection peak value 13a and 13b are detected from the position detection signals in the servo region via gate pulses 12aW12b for detection of the servo signal peak to be applied to gain control signal generation circuit 9 after addition/amplification 6. At the same time, the output of track address 7 undergoes D/A conversion 8, and the output is supplied to circuit 9. And the output of circuit 9 is controlled by the signal sent from gate circuit 10 where the decision is given between the record information region and the servo region. The output of converter 8 is applied to circuit 4 at the record information region; while the output of circuit 6 is applied to circuit 4 at the servo region respectively. Thus the high-precision control is secured for the gain.
