Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain excellent deodorization effect at low temperature by contacting gases containing malodorous components such as nitrogen-containing components, sulfur-containing components, etc. with a catalyst consisting of ZnO and SnO2 or a catalyst consisting of ZnO or SnO2 and specified oxide or oxides at a specified temperature.
CONSTITUTION: Malodorous gases are contacted with a mixed oxide catalyst at a temperature of 200W400°C to oxidize malodorous components. The mixed oxide catalyst consists of ZnO and SnO2. Alternatively, the catalyst consists of ZnO or SnO2 and at least one selected from the group consisting of CdO, Pb3O4, Bi2O3, TiO2, Al2O3, Ag2O, Co3O4, Cu2O, Mn3O4, MoO3, Fe2O3 and NiO. Excellent deodorization effect can be obtained at low temperature by using these inexpensive catalysts.
