Abstract
PURPOSE: To cheaply obtain a sintered steel with superior wear resistance and slidability by adding a specified ratio of Si, Mn, Cu, etc. to cast iron cutting chips and by further adding a predetrmined amt. of 1W3 kinds of elements out of P, Pb, Sn and Sb while regulating the ratio to the Cu content.
CONSTITUTION: Powder of Kelmet, lead bronze, phosphor bronze or the like is mixed into cast iron cutting chips to add Si 2.0W3.5wt%, Mn 0.3W1%, Cu 1W 10%, C 1W3% and 1W3 kinds of elements out of P, Pb, Sn and Sb. The ratios of the elements to the Cu content are as follows: P 0.15W20%, Pb 10W50%, Sn 3W 15%, Sb 20W50% and P+Pb+Sn+Sb 5W50%. This compsn. esp. stabilizes graphite in a sintered body. It is important to regulate the m.p. of the alloy to 950°C or below at which sintering shrinkage does not occur. Since cheap materials are used, an expensive wear resistant sliding member is cheaply obtd. as a sintered body.
