Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the sedimentary separability of calcium fluoride by the procedure in which calcium ion is added to a fluorine ion-containing waste water, then phosphoric acid ion is added to it, and further an aluminium salt is added to it, followed by solid-liquid separation.
CONSTITUTION: A fluorine ion-containing waste water is first added a water- soluble calcium compound, then added phosphoric acid or its salt with stirring without formed precipitates being removed, and further added a water-soluble aluminium compound. Then, the waste water so treated is regulated its pH to 6 to 8 by the addition of a pH regulator as needed and then subjected to a solid- liquid separation. Thus, this method can obtain treated water whose residual fluorine concentration is in the order of several ppm.
