Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide stainless steel having small directional spring characteristic, steel cosisting of C, N, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Cu, Ti, Al, the remaining Fe, and unavoidable impurities with each amount of metals being in specific relations is annealed to remove strain and cold rolled at a specified condition prior to ageing treatment. CONSTITUTION:Stainless steel for spring use consists of C <=0.06%, N <=0.03%, Si 0.1 to 2.5%, Mn <=3%, Ni 5 to 9%, Cr 14 to 17%, Cu 0.1 to 2.5%, Ti 0.3 to 1,3%, Al <= 1%, the remaining Fe, and unavoidable impurities and each amount of metals is adjusted to meet the following conditions. Such steel is annealed to remove strain and treated for 50 to 80% cold rolling prior to ageing treatment. The conditions for metal amounts are: value A in the formula I is to be less than 39% by adjusting Mn, Ni, Cr, Cu and Al, Cr-equivalent/Ni-equivalent in the formula II is to be less than 2.7 by adjusting Mn, Ni, Cu, Cr, Ti, Al and Si, and value H in the formula III is to be 5.5 to 8.5 by adjusting C, N, Al, Si, and Cu.
