Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce reflectance and obtain a good picture with high contrast by providing a light absorption material layer on the inside of panel glass and using an optical reflecting layer as the rear surface of this light absorption material layer.
CONSTITUTION: The exceedingly fine light absorption material layer 12 is provided at the black matrix window 5 and the antireflection film 16 like metal film is formed on the rear, i.e. on the electron gun side. Outer light is absorbed by the pattern of the light absorption material layer 12. As a result, the reflectance of the phosphor screen is reduced and the emission from the phosphor film is reflected by the reflection films 6 and 16 on these patterns and comes outside from the black matrix window 5.
