Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a fixed transfer efficiency at all times by changing corona discharge amount by changing the voltage or current to be applied to a discharger and applying a suitable amount of coronas for transfer according to the transfer material used.
CONSTITUTION: The toner images formed on a drum 1 are transferred by a developing device 4 under the electric field of a corona discharger 6 and the toner images on a transfer material 5 are fixed by a fixing device 7. This discharger 6 controls the applied voltage in correspondence to the kinds of the transfer material 5 and has a high voltage power source 13 for transfer and voltage control circuit 14. The thickness and width of the transfer material 5 are detected with detecting means and the output of the voltage control circuit 14 is determined, by which the voltage of a power source 13 for transfer is controlled and therefore this results in that the voltage to be applied to the wire changes and the optimum transfer efficiency is obtained at all times.
