Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the magnetic components of developer from contaminating array end face by forming a dustproof magnetic field near the incident or exit end face of a short focus small imaging element array in an optical system forming light images of an electrophotographic copier. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive drum provided with a photoconductive layer 5 on a grounded conductive drum 5' is evenly charged to, e.g., negative, at its surface by a corona charger and arrives at exposure part. The light image of the origninal 8 is introduced in slit form to the surface of the layer 5 by way of a short focus small imaging element array 3. At this time, the magnets 14, 15 disposed to the bottom surfaces of the non-magnetic and conductive substrates 16, 17 fixed to the array 3 on the exist end face 3' side of the array 3 form a magnetic field approximately perpendicular to the optical axis of each element of the array 3, thereby attracting magnetic powder dust. Further, a positive potential is applied from DC power source E to te substrates 16, 17, whereby an electric field approximately parllel to the optical axis is formed between the substrates and the photoreceptor and the dust toner carrying positive friction charges and floating is thereby attracted to the photoreceptor side.
