Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A benzamide derivative of formula I: (R is alkyl group; R1 is alkyl, aralkyl, or dialkylamino-alkyl group; R2 is H, alkyl or halogen; X is H, halogen, alkyl group, amino, imino, mercapto, thioxo, OH, or oxo group; Y is nitrylo, imino, alkylimino, dialkylaminoalkyl imino; the broken line is single or double bond; however, Y is a group other than nitrylo group when X is imino, thioxo, or oxo group).
EXAMPLE: N-(1-Ethyl-2-pyrrolidinyl methyl)-2-methoxy-5-(1-tetrazolyl)benzamide.
USE: Anti-peptic ulcer drugs, psychotropic drugs (Major tranquilizer).
PROCESS: An aminobenzamide of formula II is reacted with sodium azide in the presence of acetic acid and ethyl orthoformate to give the compound of formula I.
