Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily heat to cut even a hard rod, by attaching a couple of electrodes placing a small gap to the rod in its longitudinal direction, and by supplying a large current to the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A couple of electrodes 1a, 1b, are attached to the rod A. These electrodes 1a, 1b, are made of a material of small electric resistance like as copper, etc., and are formed into a type of clamp so as to be able to clamp the rod A through a large contact area. The electrodes 1a, 1b, are attached to the rod A placing a small gap between them so as to position the part to be cut between electrodes 1a, 1b; and then, electrodes 1a, 1b, are connected to the power source 3 through the switch 2. By closing the switch 2, a large current flows through the part of the rod A between electrodes 1a, 1b, and this part to be cut is resistance heated and instantaneously fused and cut.
