PURPOSE: Carbostyril derivatives of formula I [where R1, R2 and R3 are H or C1-4 lower alkyl; R4 and R5 are H, C1W4C lower alkyl or group represented by formula II (where n is 0 or an integer, 1 to 4), and R4 and R5 together may form a cyclic ring with the carbon atom shared by each of them;a bond between the 3-and 4-positions shwon by a dotted line means a single bond or a double bond] are new.
