As shown in Figure 1, when performing plug welding on thick plates etc. using MIG welding, when welding is performed using a starting piece 5 with the same hole diameter as the base metal 1, the hole becomes weak due to insufficient heat input immediately after the start. In order to obtain complete penetration for the diameter, it is necessary to preheat the base material using the starting piece 5.

On the other hand, as shown in Figure 2, if the arc breaks midway and restarts, it may be difficult to generate an arc due to the influence of oxide scale on the surface of the previous bead 7, or it may be difficult to start the arc even after the arc has occurred. As in the section above, there is a high possibility that heat input will be insufficient immediately after starting, resulting in welding defects such as poor melting.

That is, in the present invention, when a defective part such as a thick plate weld is removed with a drill or the like and the hole is repaired by plug welding, welding is temporarily interrupted and then welding is performed again. A tapered hole is drilled in the adhesive metal, the diameter of the upper part is larger than the diameter of the lower part, but the diameter of the upper part is smaller than the diameter of the repair hole, and the tip at the tip of the welding nozzle is made at a slight angle with respect to the vertical plane. The present invention relates to a plug welding method characterized in that the nozzle is positioned toward the center of the hole, and plug welding is performed while rotating the nozzle.

In the present invention, the shape of the restart part 11 is as follows:
The diameter d 1 of the upper part is about 2 to 3 mm smaller than the repair hole D, and the diameter d 2 of the lower part is tapered to be even smaller than d 1 . Note that the repair hole D is usually at least 12 to 13 mm. In this way, by making the shape of the restart part tapered, the welding heat from the restart diameter of welding can be dissipated quickly, and by setting the welding tip at an angle and rotating the nozzle with the rotation mechanism, the molten pool can be reduced. is made uniform and stable penetration is obtained. Here, the angle attached to the welding tip is about 10 to 20 degrees with respect to the vertical plane.

By making the diameter of the welding restart part smaller than the diameter of the repair hole, the wall of the restarting part is formed of a welded metal part that is easy to melt, and it is possible to prevent fusion failure during restarting.
