従来、害虫駆除用毒餌剤(ベイト剤)としては粉末状の
ものが上型されている。しかし、粉末状の毒餌剤は使用
する際に手に付着したり、所定の場所に配置した後も飛
散して周辺を汚染したり、また、幼児やペットが誤食す
るなど、一般消費者が取扱う上で、特に安全面で、数多
くの問題がある。したがって、このような問題を解決す
るために、たとえばホウ酸を主剤とした錠剤型の毒餌剤
が既に市販されているが、害虫特にゴキブリに対する効
力の面から有効成分としてのホウ酸の含有量は20〜3
0%程度とかなり多い、そのためホウ酸含有の錠剤も人
畜特に幼児に対しては決して安全であるとは言えない、
たとえば第11日局解説書C−1475にはホウ酸5%
含有のてんか粉を使用した幼児の死亡例も見受けられる

充分配慮しなければならない、また、ゴキブリに対する

して死に至るので、ゴキブリの生息場所(食器棚や流し
台)等の周辺に軟排泄物が多く付着し、非常に不衛生で
あり、白壁、クロス材等の建材を汚し、美観が損われる
