基端セグメント216は、全長の少なくとも一部(例えばほとんど、または全て)に沿って外径OD6を画定する。一般に外径OD6は、外側部材14の外径OD1と同じであってもよい。例示的な実施形態において、OD6は約1.73mmである。
先端セグメント218は、基端231と先端233の間に延在している。先端セグメントは、外層226と、中間層228と、基端内層230と、先端内層232とを有する多層である。
先端セグメント218の基端内層230は、一般に基端セグメント216の外層220に固定され得る材料で形成されている(例えば熱により、そして/または接着剤で)。幾つかの実施形態において、基端内層230を形成する材料は、先端内層232を形成する材料よりも潤滑性が低い。例えば幾つかの実施形態において、基端内層230はポリアミド(例えばベスタミド2101などのナイロン)で形成され、先端外層232はPTFEで形成されている。
一例として、異なる基端および先端外層を有する外側部材を含むシステムを記載したが、外側部材が他の構成を有していてもよい。例えば、外側部材が単一の外層を含んでいてもよく、それが外層21に関して記載されたとおりの厚さの変動を有していてもよい。あるいは外側部材が、全長に沿って異なる3層以上(例えば3層、4層、またはそれ以上)の外層を含んでいてもよい。
Claims (17)
- 移植可能な医療用内部人工器官(32)を送達するためのシステムであって、該システムは、
先端(29)及び基端(37)を有する外側部材(14)と、
前記外側部材(14)によって少なくとも一部が取り囲まれた内側部材(12)とを備え、
前記外側部材(14)は、外層(21)と、前記外層(21)によって取り囲まれた内層(25)とを有し、前記外層(21)は前記内層(25)と一体であり、前記外層(21)は、第1の位置(61)において第1の厚さ(t1)を画定し、かつ、前記第1の位置(61)よりも前記外側部材(14)の先端(29)に近い第2の位置(15,17)においてより薄い第2の厚さ(t2,t3,t4)を画定し、
前記外側部材(14)は、前記第1の位置(61)において第1の外径(OD1)を画定し、かつ、前記第2の位置(15)においてより大きな第2の外径(OD2)を画定し、
前記内部人工器官(32)は自己拡張型ステントであって、前記外側部材(14)の先端(29)と基端(37)の間に配置され、
前記外層(21)の前記第2の位置(15,17)は、前記内部人工器官(32)の先端よりも前記外側部材(14)の基端(37)の近くに位置している、システム。 - 前記第1の厚さ(t1)が前記第2の厚さ(t2)よりも少なくとも約10%厚い、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1の厚さ(t1)が少なくとも約135ミクロンであり、前記第2の厚さ(t2,t3,t4)が約115ミクロン以下である、請求項2に記載のシステム。
- 前記外側部材(14)は、前記第1の位置(61)において第1の内径(ID1)を画定し、かつ、前記第2の位置(15)においてより大きな第2の内径(ID2)を画定する、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 第2の外径(OD2)と第1の外径(OD1)の差に対する第2の内径(ID2)と第1の内径(ID1)の差の比は1よりも大きい、請求項4に記載のシステム。
- 前記比が少なくとも約2である、請求項5に記載のシステム。
- 前記比が少なくとも約3.25である、請求項6に記載のシステム。

- 前記内側部材(12)の外径は、前記内側部材(12)の前記第1の位置(65)における第1の外径(OD4)から、前記内側部材(12)の前記第2の位置(59)における第2の外径(OD5)に向けて減少している、請求項9に記載のシステム。
- 前記外側部材(14)が前記外層(21)と前記内層(25)の間に設けられた中間層(23)を更に有する、請求項1に記載のシステム。
