このようなカメラ付き携帯機器では、暗い場所での撮影を行うためにはストロボ装置やライトなどを本体に装備しておく必要があったため、小型化や薄型化、コスト等各種の面で問題があった。
この発明は、上記のような問題に鑑み、照明用の特別な装備を必要とすることなく暗い場所での撮影が可能なカメラ付き携帯機器を提供することを目的とするものである。

実施の形態1.
図1〜4によりこの発明の実施の形態1を説明する。
図1は実施の形態1のカメラ付き携帯機器の正面図を示すもので、カメラ付き携帯機器の筐体1の表面側上半部に、撮影レンズを含むカメラ2と、このカメラ2により撮像された画像を表示すると共に通信情報などを表示するバックライト付き液晶表示部3と、シャッタボタン4とを備えており、本体1の表面側下半部には、電話番号等を入力するキー入力部5や電源スイッチ6、各種の機能を実行するためのボタン群7が設けられている。また、無線通信を行うための送受信用アンテナ8のほか、送話器を構成するスピーカ9や受話器を構成するマイク10が設けられている。
図2は実施の形態1のカメラ付き携帯機器のブロック構成図を示すもので、送受信用アンテナ8から受信した電波を制御する送受信部11と、送受信部11からの信号を受けて各種の通信制御等を行う制御部12と、カメラ2により撮影されたカメラ画像に対し縮小処理を含む各種の制御・処理を行うカメラ制御部13と、カメラ制御部13からの画像信号を液晶表示部3に表示できるように処理する映像処理部14を備え、液晶表示部3の表示画面中央部にカメラ画像を表示縮小すると共に、液晶表示部3のカメラ画像の周囲を白色表示する。
また、キー入力部5からの信号を処理し照明ON指令として制御部12に出力するキー入力制御部15と、各種の制御を実行するためのROM16、RAM17を備えている。

次に、実施の形態1のカメラ付き携帯機器の動作を図3および図4を用いて説明する。
例えば、いまカメラ2と同一面側に装着されている液晶表示部3を自分撮り用の画面として用いてカメラ撮影を行う場合、カメラ制御部13をカメラモードに切替え、液晶表示部3の画面でプレビューを行う。(ステップS1,S2)
そして、プレビュー画像が暗く照明が必要な場合は、キー入力部5より照明ON指令を入力し、キー入力制御部15を介して制御部12よりカメラ制御部13に出力画像を縮小するように命令を出し、カメラ制御部13でカメラ画像に対して縮小処理を行う。(ステップS3,S4)
次に、縮小処理されたカメラ画像を映像処理部14に入力し、映像処理部14を介して液晶表示部3の表示画面中央部に表示縮小されたカメラ画像を表示すると共に、カメラ画像の周囲を白く塗りつぶして白色表示する。(ステップS5,S6)
そしてこの状態で、ユーザーがシャッタボタン4を押下すると、液晶表示部3のバックライトを照明補助として撮影が行われる。
このとき、撮影された画像はバックライトのON/OFFに関係なく同一のサイズで撮影される。
図4は実施の形態1の液晶表示部3における表示例を示すもので、同図(a)は照明OFF時、同図(b)は照明ON時の状態を示しており、例えば2/1の縮小画面で、50cm離れたところで中心照度として1ルックス程度の明るさを得ることができる。

このように、従来のカメラ付き携帯機器では液晶表示部の画面全体にカメラ画像を表示するだけであったため、暗い場所での撮影時にはフラッシュやライトなどの照明が必要であったが、この実施の形態1では、カメラ画像を縮小しカメラ画像の周囲にスペースをつくり、空いたスペースを光の透過率の高い白色で塗りつぶして液晶表示部に表示することにより、液晶表示部のバックライトを照明の補助として用いることが可能となり、特に、暗い場所で自分撮りを行う場合などに有効である。
なお、この実施の形態では、表示部としてバックライト付き液晶表示部を用いた場合を示したが、これに限らずフロントライト付き液晶表示部でも良いし、液晶表示装置だけでなく、有機EL等の自発光型の表示装置を用いても良い。

以上のようにこの発明は、カメラと、このカメラが設けられた筐体面と同一面に設けられた表示部とを備え、上記カメラにより撮像されたカメラ画像を上記表示部に表示するカメラ付き携帯機器において、照明ON指令に応じて上記表示部の表示画面中央部に上記カメラ画像を表示縮小すると共に、上記表示部のカメラ画像の周囲を白色表示するようにしたものであるので、暗い場所でのカメラ撮影時に表示部を照明補助として用いることができ、携帯機器本体に照明用の特別の装備を設ける必要がなく、その結果、小型化、薄型化、コストダウンが可能となる。
