Abstract
989,581. Steam turbines. SOC. RATEAU, and SOC. DES FORGES ET ATELIERS DU CREUSOT. May 24, 1963 [June 18, 1962], No. 20901/63. Heading F1T. A steam turbine admission nozzle assembly comprises two or more concentric rings C 1 , C 2 , at least one of which is divided into arcuate sections to which steam can be supplied selectively. Steam supply is through pipes t 1 , t 2 , respectively. The corresponding rotor blades are divided by an intermediate shroud ring, Fig. 3 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 6, ring C 1 is surrounded by separate segments C 2 , C 3 . The nozzle rings may be divided into any number of segments, some or all of which may be in operation at any one time. The construction reduces blade vibration during partial admission operation.
