[Also in Division B5] In an apparatus for providing grooves in dough blanks for bread rolls or loaves a piece of dough 3 on a dough carrier 4, e.g. an endless belt, is fed slowly under a scalpel-like knife 1 mounted on a fastrotated cutter shaft 2, and the knife makes a plurality of consecutive incisions 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 &c. in the dough blank, each incision further extending the preceding division. The shaft 2 may carry a plurality of spaced knives for grooving several dough blanks simultaneously and the knives may be double-edged so that the machine can operate in reverse. The knives are removably screwed, bolted or pinned in slots in holders keyed to the shaft, e.g. by grub screws. The dough carrier 4 may be a stationary table and the shaft 2 moved to transverse the knife or knives across the dough blank.
