960,687. Work-holders; sliding carriages. C. PIERCE, and W. W. ANDREWS. March 17, 1961 [March 17, 1960], No. 9524/60. Heading B3B. [Also in Division F2] A work-table and compound guide arrangement comprises two pairs of parallel track edges and rollers on the support and work-table cooperating therewith. The base support 2, Fig. 3, is provided with guide strips 4, 5, the edges of the inner vertical faces of which are used in conjunction with guide rollers 7 on an intermediate support member 6 to guide the latter in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the paper. The rollers are inclined at 45 degrees and the upper ones are fixed to the support. The lower rollers are carried by pivoted members 8, 10, the former 8 being adjusted by screw stops 9 while the latter 10 are held against the guide edge by adjustable pressure spring plungers 11. A top slide movable at right angles to the member 6 is similarly supported but the guide surfaces in this case are on the slide and the rollers mounted on the member 6. A sink plate 3 may be mounted on the work-table and is pressed upwardly by springs 24 against stop members 23. Other stops and springs locate the plate longitudinally and transversely.
