960,551. Sifting apparatus. ALLGAIERWERKE G.m.b.H. Oct. 24, 1962, No. 40258/62. Heading B2H. A screening machine comprises one or more circular screens 1, 2, 3 adapted to be given a wobbling movement oscillating out of the horizontal by means of an eccentric stud 17 inclined to the axis of a vertical driving shaft 15, the tilt of the stud 17 being adjustable relative to the shaft 15. The screens are mounted on a supporting body 4. The material to be screened, e.g. grain, is introduced at 12 and the fraction passing through one screen is conducted to the central portion of the next finer screen by frusto-conical collecting surfaces 5, 6. The finest fraction is collected on a surface 7 and conducted to an outlet 8 while the coarser fractions are discharged through outlets 9, 10, 11 at the periphery of the screens. A spiral guide is arranged on each screen to convey the material from its middle to the outlet. Rotation of the body 4 is prevented by resilient ties 20, 20<SP>1</SP> connected to the machine frame 14. The eccentric stud 17 is mounted on a supporting plate 22 which can be tilted (by a block 30 engaging stepped surfaces 31-31<SP>11</SP> on the plate) about a horizontal pivot 23. The plate 22 and a cross-member 29 for the pivot 23 are connected by bolts 27, 28, 28<SP>1</SP> to a plate 21 which is rigidly connected to the driving shaft 15 and has connected thereto a balance weight 21<SP>1</SP> for displacement in the direction of the double arrow 21<SP>11</SP>.
