A skirt or trouser hanger and stretcher comprises two U-ended bars 1, 2 urged to the spread position by a spring 3 and two clips 5 having grooves 7 which slidably engage the bar arms 1a, 1c and 2a, 2c whereby the tensioned spring 3 causes tilting and hence locking of the clips 5 on the bars 1, 2. A spring clip 6 engages at its ends 6a in grooves in the clips 5 to normally spread the legs 5a, 5b thereof and to frictionally grip the arms 1a, 1c.
