Abstract

956,660. Cigar making machines. ARENCO A.B. Oct. 26, 1962 [Nov. 21, 1961], No. 40656/62. Heading A2C. A device for removing the tobacco waste which arises at the end portion of a strip of tobacco sheet material when cutting cigar wrappers and binders therefrom in which the strip is fed in steps on a cutting bed provided with perforations, on the underside of which bed a chamber connected to a suction pipe is provided, and in which a cutting die 4 with a width corresponding to the width of the strip is situated, is characterised in that the bed and underlying chamber is divided into a fixed part 1 and a pivotable part 3. The part 3 and underlying suction chambers are secured to a pivotally mounted shaft 7 and are raised from the position shown to an inclined position after each cutting operation. The interiors of the suction chambers underlying the part 3 are connected to a suction pipe 12 via openings 8 and a channel 9 having an opening 10 which registers with the pipe 12 when the part 3 is in its horizontal position shown. During pivoting of the part 3, the suction is cut off and the waste material slides or is thrown off. Alternatively, another pipe, connected to a source of compressed air may be provided which registers with the opening 10 when the part 3 is in its position of maximum inclination.
