Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formulae FCH2CONHCH(OH)CCl2R and FCH2CCl=N-CH(OH)CCl2R, where R is chlorine or a -chloroalkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms, and their preparation by reacting fluoracetamide with an aldehyde RCCl2CHO to give a compound of the first formula above, and if desired reacting the latter with an acid chloride, e.g. acetyl chloride. Examples prepare compounds of the first formula above in which R is Cl, CH2Cl and CH3CHCl, and the compound of the second formula above in which R is Cl. The compounds of the invention are insecticides and acaricides (see Division A5).ALSO:Insecticidal and acaricidal preparations contain a compound of formula FCH2CONHCH-(OH)CCl2R or a compound of formula FCH2-CCl=N-CH(OH)CCl2R, where R is chlorine or a -chloroalkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms (see Division C2), in admixture with a solid or liquid diluent and a surface-active agent. Further ingredients used in examples are methanol, cyclohexanone, activated silica, cell pitch, fatty acid methyltauride, nonylphenol and p-chloro-m-cresol.
