Abstract

932,315. Furniture joints. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. March 15, 1961 [March 17, 1960], No. 9555/61. Class 52 (2). [Also in Group XXV] A fastening device for securing a rod-like article 12 in an opening 16 in a support 14 is formed of sheet metal and comprises a plate-like base 22 having an aperture 34, the edge of which is shaped to form a series of inwardly extending teeth 30 for frictionally gripping the article 12 as it is inserted into the aperture, a plurality of resilient legs 24 extending integrally from the base for insertion into the opening 16 in the support 14, each leg 24 having a projection 36 at its free end extending laterally outwardly therefrom and adapted to be forced, into the side wall of the opening when the article is inserted. An annular rim 26 extends from the base 22 in the same direction as the legs 24. Four integral teeth 30 having arcuate edges 32 form portions of the edge of the aperture 34. As shown in Fig. 1, the article 12 is one of a pair of members which support the back member 14 of a chair.
