931,580. Mounting electrical equipment. FERNSEH G.m.b.H. Jan. 9, 1962. No. 877/62. Class 37. In apparatus comprising a plurality of electrical assembly units which are inserted into a like plurality of receptacles in a supporting structure and which carry contact members which, when a unit is fully inserted in its receptacle, co-operate to connect the circuits contained in the unit to wiring carried on the structure, the insertion of a unit fully into a wrong receptacle is prevented by the provision of members on units and receptacles, said members having apertures which extend parallel to the direction of movement of a unit in entering a receptacle, the apertures in the members of a unit being in register with the apertures in the members of a receptacle, and some apertures being occupied by protruding pins and some by cover members so that the pins on a member will enter corresponding apertures of a mating member only when a unit is inserted in the correct receptacle. As shown, Fig. 1, a plurality of receptacles 4 are formed within a cubicle by bearer members 3 on which units may be pushed, each receptacle being provided near the rear door 2 of the cubicle with a mounting member 5 on which is secured the set of contact members connected with the cubicle wiring 7 for the unit to be inserted in that receptacle. Each unit, Fig. 2, comprises a mounting plate 11, a chassis 12 on which are mounted components 15, e.g. valves, resistors, transistors, transformers, capacitors, and side-plates 13, 14. The mounting plate 11, and the mounting member 5 of the relevant receptacle are provided with elements each having six apertures 16 ... 19. At least one aperture in each element carries at least one pin 21, 22, or cover plate 23, 24, of e.g. plastic. To lock a unit in its receptacle a bolt 27 co-operates with a socket in the cubicle. Plug and socket connection is made between connectors on mounting plate 11 and mounting member 5. The components 15 are cooled by convection air currents which enter holes 8 in the bottom of the cubicle and emerge through holes 9 at the top. To allow access to the components and wiring the mounting plate 11 is made of narrower width than the chassis 12.
