Abstract
928,172. Automatic exchange systems. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 2, 1962 [March 10, 1961], No. 8853/61. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (4). Contact-wetting and/or pad-switching potentials are applied to a switching connection in a transmission path at an exchange but are insufficient to ensure the breakdown of highresistance films existing on any of the contacts of the connection, means being provided for producing a potential surge through the connection in order to effect breakdown of any such films. As described, the surge is produced by means of a capacitor charge/discharge circuit comprising two capacitors connected to different potentials and to centre tappings on two transformer windings connected across the transmission path on either side of the switching connection.
