Abstract

911,581. Container closures. METAL CONTAINERS Ltd. Oct. 11, 1960, No. 34782/60. Class 125(3). A closure for a container, in which the container comprises an inner non-metallic shell 11 and an outer shell 12, has a protruding neck 13 in which is circumferential sealing groove 17 containing a sealing ring 18 which abutts an upward facing annular sealing flange 21. Flange 21 has a downwardly facing annular shoulder engaging the inwardly turned skirt of a cap 22. A closure plug 14 containing a threaded bung 15 is screwed into the neck 13 of the inner shell. The sealing flange 21 may be integral with the outer shell as in Fig. 1 or it may be a separate member as in Fig. 2. In a modification, the neck 13 is threaded externally and the closure plug 14 threaded internally to mate.
