Abstract

896,359. Tube joints. CHICAGO FORGING & MANUFACTURING CO. Aug. 31. 1959 [April 8, 1959], No. 29681/59. Addition to 894,671. Class 99(1). In the tube joint described in the parent Specification and comprising a seal unit contained in a chamber formed by a pair of cooperating elements 2, 15, the latter being adapted to subject the unit to compression to force a ring 26 into a tube-gripping position, one of the elements 2 has a bore 7 for reception of the tube 1 the main portion of which is tapered towards the tube so that the tube is free to be swung to a limited extent relatively to the elements 2, 15. As shown, the seal unit comprises a retainer element 25 of nylon or other synthetic plastic material, the tube-gripping ring 26 of conical form and a compression ring 27 of synthetic rubber. In a modification, the ring 26 is disposed within a flanged reinforcing ring.
