Class 75(2) [Also in Group XX] A projector of radiations comprises a source 31 of radiations of the pin-point type and a reflector 33 of elongated shape, adapted to concentrate the radiations of the source through a longitudinal rectilinear slot in the reflector, characterized in that the reflector has a surface the sections of which through planes parallel to the slot and passing through the centre of the source are conics the first foci of the elliptical sections being aligned along a focal axis in the plane of the slot and parallel thereto, the other foci of the elliptical sections being placed on a conic the apex of which coincides with the centre of the source and the focus of the median elliptical section, in such a way that the radiations emanating from the source and reflected by the reflector are brought back near to the axis of the longitudinal slot and emitted through the said slot in the shape of a dihedron of rectangular straight section. The two systems of conics may have a common apex the curves passing through the apex having a first common focus and second foci situated in the straight line defined by the apex, and the common focus, the source being situated at the common focus. The reflector may have additional surfaces constituted by two systems of curves or by screens to limit the area illuminated and to limit direct illumination from the source. One of the systems of conics may have a skew surface. To vary the width of the slot or to displace it to one or other side of the focal axis the plane or curved surfaces 34, 35 defining the slot have adjustable shutters 36, 37. The reflector may be replaced by a light bulb having the curved surface and metallized except at the slot. A second reflector 38 may be fitted on the first reflector. The reflector has a surface the directrices of which are open conics the active foci of which lie on a common axis in the plane of the slot and coincides with the focal axis of the first reflector and the radiations emitted by the source and concentrated on the surface strike against the second reflector.
