886,859. Furniture joints. WILKES BERGER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. July 13, 1960 [July 27, 1959], No. 25723/59. Class 52(2) [Also in Group XXV] A jointing device suitable for joining together two pieces of furniture comprises two sheet metal members each including a longitudinally tapering flat base 3 having apertures for the reception of securing screws for the attachment of the member to the furniture with which it is associated, each base having upstanding marginal edges 4, 5 which in the case of one member are inclined inwardly and in the case of the other member are inclined outwardly. The members when secured to the furniture being interengageable by relative endwise sliding movement into a position where the member having the inwardly inclined edges 5 encloses the outwardly inclined edges 4 of the other member, the edges of these two members frictionally engaging one another as a result of the tapering formation of the two members. A securing screw may be passed through aligned apertures in the members when they are engaged.
