Abstract
876,647. Change-speed gear. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU S. M. KIROW VEB. Oct. 26, 1959, No. 36171/59. Class 80 (2). A two-drum hoist comprises a pair of side-byside epicyclic gears of different ratios driven by electric motors 1 and with a common drive shaft 3 carrying sun pinions 10, 14, each gear being brought into action by engaging an associated brake 5 or 6, simultaneous engagement of both brakes enabling the load to be held at any desired height. In the arrangement shown each gear is of the stepped-planet, two sun pinion type and the brakes 5, 6 engage the respective planet carriers. In other embodiments, Figs. 2-4 (not shown), the gears have a common planet carrier and the brakes engage the second sun pinions or the annuli. Spur gearing 18, 19, 20 is arranged between the output pinion 16 and the cable drums 22.
