Abstract

876,575. Coat &c. hangers; skirt hangers. HUNTER, E. J. Nov. 4, 1958 [Nov. 14, 1957], No. 35515/57. Class 52(5). A skirt &c. hanger comprises a bowed spring 1, inserted within and tensioning the waistband, and a rigid bar 2 mounted on the suspension hook 8 for adjustment of the gap between the bar and the spring to vary the curvature and stiffness of the spring to suit different sizes of waist band. The spring slides in loops 3, 4 at the ends of the bar 2 and is pressed towards the bar by a pin engaging a selected aperture 9 in the rod 5 which passes through slots in the spring and bar and has shoulders 6, 7 either of which can be used as an abutment . Close approximation of the spring and bar renders the spring rigid enough to support a coat. Corrugated gripping surfaces are provided on plastic knobs 10 and, in a modification, the bar 2 and rod 5 are integral, the hook 8 being detachable.
