[Also in Group XXVIII] A coupling element for tubes 2 has longitudinally slotted reduced end portions 3 formed with annular recesses 4 and flared ends 6, the latter being engaged by the conical portions 11 of spigots 10 to expand the portions 3 against the walls of the tubes when the spigots are drawn inwardly of the element by grub screws 9. Grub screws act on the walls 14 of the spigots to extract the latter from the sockets.
