865,997. Tubular heat exchangers. VEREINIGTE EOONOMISER - WERKE G.m.b.H. March 24, 1959 [April 24, 1958], No. 10227/59. Class 64(3) A heat exchanger comprises a number of concentric annular chambers 5 defined by partitions 4, arranged within an outer casing 1, each chamber containing a tube group consisting of one or more rows of tubes 3 which extend between annular headers 6, 7 adapted to cause one of the heat exchanging fluids entering the heat exchanger at the lower end 8 thereof to flow through successive tube groups in series to an outlet 9 whilst the other fluid flows from an inlet duct 12 through each annular chamber in succession and over the tubes therein to an outlet or outlets 13. The annular chambers 5 intercommunicate through slots 10 provided in the partition walls 4, Figs. 2, 4 and 6 showing alternative forms of this feature.
