Abstract
A synthetic lubricant is produced by polymerizing one or more C5 to C14 normal alphamonoolefins in the presence of a ditertiary alkyl peroxide. The catalyst may be di-t-Bu-, di-t-Am-, or t-Bu-t-Am-peroxide, and may be added intermittently or continuously. The examples describe the fractionation/purification of products which may be used as lubricants for jetengines.ALSO:A synthetic lubricant is produced by polymerizing one or more C5 to C14 normal alphamono-olefins in the presence of a di-tertiary alkyl peroxide, e.g. di-tert.-butyl-, di-tert.-amyl- or tert.-butyl-tert.-amyl-peroxide. The products are used for lubricating jet engines.
