Abstract
860,235. Seed sowing machines. MASSEYFERGUSON (UNITED KINGDOM) Ltd. May 7, 1957 [May 11, 1956], No. 14804/56. Class 6(1). A seed sowing machine of the type comprising a feed wheel 6 provided with passages or flutes 7 to feed seeds out of hopper through an arcuate discharge chamber in a shoot 1 is provided with a device for enabling small seeds to be sown comprising a brush 17 and a holder 16 the holder 16 fitting into the inlet end of the shoot and locating the brush in contact with the fluted face of the wheel 6 so as to prevent the passage of seeds past the brush except seeds located in the flutes of the wheel. As shown a similar discharge chamber is provided at the other side of the wheel, the face of the wheel being provided with ribs 8. Only one chamber is used at a time and a member 15 is provided to close the inlet to either member. The holder 16 is provided with a spring 18 for locating it in position. The brush may be replaced by a thin rubber tongue.
