Abstract

858,768. Window operating mechanisms. ANDERSON, J. W. Sept. 26, 1957 [Oct. 29, 1956], No. 30212/57. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXIV] A construction of universal joint (see Group XXIV) is shown applied to window operating mechanism for a motor car, in which an electric motor 11 drives through a resilient universal joint 31 to a screw 22 which traverses a saddle 20 connected by a carriage 13 to the window, the upper end of the screw being connected through a second resilient universal joint 31 to a thrust bearing 23. When the mechanism reaches the end of its traverse either up or down, stops engage to prevent further movement and the universal joints 31 allow limited axial and rotary motion of the screw 22 so that shocks caused on stopping are absorbed.
