Abstract
850,303. Making finned tubes. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd., J. April 13, 1959 [Jan. 20, 1958], No. 1865/58. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). A method of making finned metal tubes comprises coiling helically a metal strip 3 of T-section and simultaneously uniting the contiguous edges by high-frequency resistance fusion. The edges of the steel, brass, copper, &c. strip 3 may be coated with a brazing material and the strip coiled on a mandrel by rollers. The web of the T-section may be softened by electric induction heating during coiling, and the edges united by highfrequency welding or brazing.
