Abstract

850,083. Roasting spits. LYONS & CO. Ltd., J., and BENHAM & SONS Ltd. April 17, 1958 [April 26, 1957], No. 13360/57. Class 28(1), A rotated toasting spit 6 on end pulleys 32, 33 can be pulled out on rail 39 to loading position where it rests in recesses 40 in end plates 37. One end wheel is removed to push the food on to the spit provided with a fixed skewer 43 at one end and a slidable clamped skewer at the other end. The food may be greased and flavoured in this position. The spit is then pushed back under gas burners 4 where an end knurled roll rests on other knurled rolls 23, 24 one of which is chain driven by a motor 8 pivoted on its base to maintain tension on the chain. The gas burners are provided with top insulation 9 and baffle plates 17. Drip trays 41 are provided.
