Abstract

843,892. Commutators for dynamo-electric machines. BOSCH G.m.b.H., R. Aug. 20, 1958 [Sept. 6, 1957; Oct. 5, 1957; Oct. 19, 1957], No. 26729/58. Class 35. In commutators in which the segments 10 are secured between insulating V-rings 15, 16 clamped in position by the turned-up ends 18, 19 of the mounting tube 17, the space 30 beneath the dovetails 12 of the segments is filled with a setting resin to prevent tilting of the segments. In the form shown the resin, e.g. an epoxy resin, is injected by rams in the tube 17 through holes 33, 37. In modifications, various dispositions and arrangements of holes 50 in the V-rings may be used, Fig: 3 showing one example. In further modifications, the segments may be channelled in various ways, e.g. by ducts 74, 75, 76 as shown in Fig. 7 and also providing radial slots in the inter-segment insulation. Alternatively radial slots to the commutator running surface may be used, or slots 96 may run obliquely from the end surfaces as shown in Fig. 10. The moulding may be performed after mounting and connecting the commutator so that the moulding material may embrace the armature connections.
