830,094. Making transformer cores. BROWN BOVERI & CIE A.G. Dec. 2, 1957 [Dec. 18, 1956], No. 37494/57. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XXXV] A method of fabricating a yoke 1 for a magnetic circuit in which a metal band is wound uniformly around a mandrel, being so tensioned that each turn is kept under pressure by the next turn producing a yoke of sufficient strength to enable holes 2 to be either bored through it or formed by the winding process parallel to the surface of the metal sheet to accommodate bolts for holding together the magnetic circuit, the ends of the band S, S<SP>1</SP> then being fixed internally and externally to the yoke which is annealed at 700‹ C. The yoke may also be of triangular or elliptical shape and have a cross-section of irregular contour. A step-like cross-section may be obtained by mounting several individual yokes of different height on top of one another or by winding a band of varying width.
