Abstract

827,849. Pneumatic tyres. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. April 20, 1956 [May 19, 1955], No. 14422/55. Class 144 (2). In a tubeless tyre and divided wheel-rim assembly, the beads 34 of the tyre 36 seal against the side edge portions of a rubber rimlining band 30 which extends across the rim base, and between the tyre beads 34 and their associated seating portions of the wheel rim, the band having an inflation valve attached to a locally thickened inner peripheral portion la thereof, Fig. 2, to extend radially inwardly and the central portion 31 of the band 30 being arched, in the uninflated condition of the tyre, to avoid being pinched between the wheel rim parts 27, 28 on assembly thereof. The band 30 may terminate at its edges in beaded or thickened portions 33, Fig. 3, which may lie against the radially outermost portion of the beadretaining flanges 37 of the wheel rim.
