Abstract
817,811. Humidifying meal. SLATER, C. W. Dec. 6, 1955 [Sept. 7, 1954], No. 25894/54. Class 58. In humidifying meal, it is fed into a chamber 2 through an upper opening 7 and falls into a horizontal trough 8, forming the bottom of the chamber, through a spray of atomized water directed across the chamber from an opening 9 therein. A rotating conveyer, in the form of a screw-conveyer of a shaft 19 carrying propelling blades 21 passing through the trough 8, mixes the humidified meal and carries it into a second chamber 4 provided, at the bottom, with a trough-shaped screen 22, through which meal, free from lumps, falls into a hopper 5 having a discharge opening 23, The spray of atomized water is provided by feeding water through a jet 10 into the throat 12 of a venturi pipe 13 connected by a pipe 14 to the outlet of a compressed air fan or blower 15, the inlet of which may be connected by a pipe 24 to the end of the chamber 4. The fan or blower may be driven from the shaft 19 by a pulley 30, a belt 31 and a pulley 32.
